Behavior Change Agent Training Guide and Toolkit for Social and Behavior Change Calls: Protocols for telecounseling pregnant and lactating mothers in Myanmar

31.12.2022

This technical call guide is for professional practitioners. It is based on work conducted under the EU Myan Ku Fund project, which, in addition to providing millions of EUR in direct cash assistance to pregnant and young mothers during the pandemic, provided extensive nutritional telecounseling outreach to pregnant and nursing mothers. To ensure the effectiveness of the counseling, Myan Ku's professional nutritionists and qualified doctors conducted "knowledge, attitudes and practices" surveys with a population of 800 women from the garment sector, most of whom lived in peri-urban settings in Yangon or else in the Ayeyarwaddy Delta Region. The project also ran behavior studies with subsets of these women, to identify and classify common cultural behaviors. This call guide is an outcome of that work, and provides nutritionists with detailed recommendations on administering counseling support to women in Myanmar, in particular rural migrants and those living in peri-urban settings

Hard copies are available in English and Myanmar language by contacting the EU's MADE project, which runs a nutrition help desk to continue some of the important work started under Myan Ku.
